DURING THIS COURSE YOU WILL LEARN THE FOLLOWING:
Thursday:
THE BASICS:
SCREWS AND SCREWDRIVER: (using manual and electric screwdriver)
- assembling a power screwdriver and drill
- screwing in Phillips head screws
- screwing in flat head screws
- installing a cabinet pull
- attaching a nut to a bolt
- using a wrench to tighten a nut
- using an Allen Key
- installing a cam screw and tightening a cam lock onto a cam screw
NAILS & HAMMER:
- when to use nails vs. screws
- hammering in a nail safely and securely
- removing a nail
PLANNING & MEASURING:
- how to correctly use a tape measure
- how to use a laser measuring tool
- measuring angles
- determining the center of a space and other fractional distances
- hanging picture frames easily on the wall to look like a professional gallery wall
- using a level
- different types of hooks
DRILLING:
- drill bits and when to use them
- drilling a hole safely and cleanly
- using different types of anchors
- drilling dowel holes and using dowels and glue
- when to use a toggle bolt and how to use it
Friday:
PATCHING, SANDING, SPACKLING & PAINTING:
- How to patch a hole in the wall correctly
- Sanding and fixing imperfections
- Painting with a brush vs. with a roller (why and when)
SAWING:
- sawing safely
- different types of saws and when and how to use them
CUTTING ANGLES:
- building a wainscoting frame
NAIL GUN & UPHOLSTERY STAPLE GUN:
- When to use a nail gun vs. a staple gun
- How to use a nail gun
- How to use an upholstery staple gun
ACCESSORIES:
- How to apply wallpaper or contact paper
- How to add handles to a door
- How to add a hinge to a door
*BUILDING:
- *Participants build their own upholstered bench or side table using all the skills learned during the two-day course.
$450 (Includes both days and includes all tools needed. Each participant also gets to take home their bench or side table which they built during the course.)
Limited to a small group so that each participant can get one-on-one instruction time.
An assortment of food and beverages will be provided.
